Behind Locked Doors
We hope and pray that you are in the best of health and at the peaks of piety. Ameen.
This month, and the upcoming months, are very busy periods for Nour, thus we thought we’ll keep you in the loop with a mid-month update!
Nour has initiated the Behind Locked Doors campaign, where the poster above will be placed behind toilet doors of institutions and buildings appealing to the public to raise awareness of Nour and its services. Public toilets are one of the very few places where many victims of domestic violence get some time alone, away from their abusers. Placing these posters will enable many victims to learn of us, and God willing, it will allow them to contact us for help. If you know of any companies or institutions that may be willing to put up these posters in their washrooms, please reply to this email and inshaAllaah we will take further correspondences from there!
With our annual Domestic Violence Awareness Week coming up (view last year’s activities and events here), we are seeking many volunteers who will be able to work from the comfort of their homes. All we seek from you is to be dedicated to the work you are assigned to, and to remember that your efforts are to help victims of domestic violence.
Drop in the Ocean also kicked off earlier this month and donating has been made even easier. Just text "NOUR10 £5" to 70070 to donate £5 and JustGiving will process your donation for you! Alternatively you can sign up to a standing order form and make your donations more regular!
With so much happening at Nour, we would love for you to get involved with Nour and the work that we do. So please do get it touch. We are seeking dedicated, hard-working, enthusiastic and passionate members to come forward and volunteer with Nour. We have many roles being sought which can be viewed here. In particular, we are seeking members to join our Outreach Team, who would be the core members in reaching out to the public to get rid of the horrific ideologies many people have, and to bring greater attention of Nour to aid more victims. Members of this team will be one of the most important aspects of Nour.
We pray that your life is filled with much light, and, God willing, it never sees the darkness that many people are silently living in. We pray that you can find it in your heart to step forward and help alleviate these people of the hardship they endure, and are able to speak out to be the much needed noise, this silent phenomenon requires.
Wa 'alaikum Assalaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
